MIAS Architects in collaboration with Leitner has designed the new funicular for the Tibidabo Amusement Park, a technological, sustainable and cutting-edge train with minimal environmental impact. In addition to a completely new high-end design, which looks like a glowworm, by incorporating the larger glass surfaces on both sides and the roof, the new train has improved the previous one by improving operational efficiency and passenger comfort, while incorporating improved safety systems and facilitating easier maintenance. Applied technology has been used to guarantee the minimum environmental impact and CO2 emissions. The speed of the funicular has been increased to 10 meters per second, allowing for a journey time of approximately 3 minutes. The capacity has also been increased. .Accordingly, the design of the funicular has been completely renewed while being personalized. These enhancements will significantly improve the experience for riders, allowing them to interact with the attraction. Therefore, the new funicular, called 'Cuca de Llum', glowworm, is integrated into the park as an additional flagship attraction. The main structure of the train consists of ultralight aluminum profiles, improving energy efficiency, speed and vibration reduction. The structure is covered with colored fiberglass, further protected by a specially designed reflective colored particle, ensuring durability and reflectivity.
